How many things do you do to protect yourself everyday from both harm and disease? When you first get an air filter system, be sure to look into the filter itself.  It should be a HEPA type filter.  HEPA means a High Efficiency Particulate Air filter.  This type of filter will remove particles down to about the .3 Microns level.  That is much smaller than you can see.  These are the particles that get into your lungs and cause many problems.  They consist of pet dander, dust, allergens, pollen, and many other things.  It makes sense that we shouldn't breathe them and any decent home improvement tips site would tell you that.
